Today, Station 10 had the pleasure of welcoming the 4th grade students from Pungoteague Elementary School as part of Fire Prevention Week. The visit was filled with hands-on learning, excitement, and plenty of smiles as the students explored what it means to stay safe in an emergency.

During their visit, the kids had the opportunity to:

Learn essential fire safety tips from our firefighters

Operate a fire hose and experience what it’s like to control the water stream

Explore our fire apparatus and equipment, getting an up-close look at the tools we use every day

Watch a live K-9 demonstration, showcasing how our working dogs assist in emergency operations

Enjoy a provided lunch and spend time interacting with our crew

We are grateful to the Accomack County Public Schools for allowing the students to spend the day with us. Events like these play a vital role in teaching fire safety early and helping children feel comfortable and confident around first responders.

Thank you to the teachers, staff, and especially the students for a great day at Station 10. We look forward to seeing you all again soon—stay safe and remember: fire prevention starts with you!
