Melfa Volunteer Fire & Rescue Co., Inc. (Station 10) responded to a reported vehicle fire at a residence on Texaco Town Road. Assistant Chief 10 arrived on scene and established command, confirming a single passenger vehicle with fire showing from the engine compartment.

Engine 105 responded promptly and positioned for safe operations, taking into consideration the vehicle’s proximity to the residence. Upon arrival, crews observed active fire coming from beneath the hood of a 4-door sedan parked in the driveway area. While the vehicle was in close proximity to the structure, there was no fire extension to the home.

Firefighters deployed a 1.75-inch handline and initiated suppression efforts. Crews accessed the engine compartment and applied water directly to the seat of the fire. The flames were quickly knocked down and brought under control. The fire was determined to be confined to the engine compartment of the vehicle. No injuries were reported, and no additional hazards were identified. Thanks to rapid response and coordinated operations, the nearby residence was protected from damage. After completing overhaul and confirming full extinguishment, Command was terminated and all Station 10 units returned to service. We are proud of the quick actions taken by our personnel to protect life and property.

If you notice smoke or fire coming from your vehicle, move to a safe location, call 9-1-1 immediately, and stay clear of the vehicle.
As always, thank you for your continued support of the Melfa Volunteer Fire & Rescue Co., Inc. — proudly serving our community.
