Motor Vehicle Accident with Aviation – Dogwood Rd & Redwood Rd
By Deputy Chief Randy Green
November 27, 2025
On 11/27/25 @10:06am, Melfa Volunteer Fire & Rescue Co. responded to a serious motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Dogwood Road and Redwood Road. Initial reports indicated a possible ejection. Upon arrival, crews located a two-vehicle accident involving a four-door SUV in the roadway and a four-door sedan that had come to rest in the yard of a nearby residence. A single male occupant was found on the ground near the sedan. EMS personnel quickly assessed the patient, who confirmed that he had not been ejected from the vehicle. Deputy Chief 10 R. Green established Dogwood Road Command, and Engine 105’s crew began securing the intersection. Additional support from Rescue 9 and Engine 8-5 allowed responders to safely shut down both Dogwood Road and Redwood Road to control traffic and ensure scene safety. Virginia State Police arrived to conduct the formal investigation. Due to the severity of the patient’s injuries, Maryland State Police Aviation was requested. The patient was transported by MSP helicopter to TidalHealth Salisbury for advanced medical care. Fire and rescue units remained on scene until both vehicles were removed and the roadway was safely reopened. Once operations were complete, command was terminated and all units returned to service. We thank all responding agencies—Fire, EMS, Virginia State Police, and Maryland State Police Aviation—for their cooperation and professionalism during this incident.
